Terms of
Service

Effective date 29 July 2026

01

Overview

These Terms of Service govern your use of Subcharge, a subscription, bill, and card tracker. An account is required to use Subcharge. By creating an account or using Subcharge, you agree to these Terms.

02

Account and sign-in

You need an account to use Subcharge. You can sign in with Google, Sign in with Apple, or a one-time code sent to your email. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping access to your sign-in method secure.

You agree not to use Subcharge for unlawful activity, to interfere with the app or our servers, or to attempt to reverse engineer, misuse, or disrupt the app or related services.

03

Recovery phrase

When you set up the card vault, Subcharge generates a 12-word recovery phrase that protects the encryption key for your saved card numbers and CVVs. You are responsible for saving this phrase somewhere safe.

We do not have a copy of your recovery phrase and cannot recover it for you. If you lose it, you will not be able to restore your saved cards on a new device. Losing your recovery phrase does not affect your subscription, bill, or other account data, which remains accessible through your account sign-in.

04

Smart Detection

Smart Detection is an optional convenience feature that can suggest recurring payments for you to review, from sources including financial SMS on Android (with your permission), receipts you paste into the app, and receipts you forward to your private Subcharge email address. It is turned off by default, other than sources you actively enable, and you can disable it at any time.

  • SMS and pasted-receipt detection run on your device; forwarded-email detection is processed on our servers, as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • Detection results are estimates and may be inaccurate, incomplete, duplicated, or missed.
  • Smart Detection never adds anything to your tracked items automatically; you decide what to add, edit, or ignore.
  • You are responsible for only forwarding your own receipts, and for ensuring you have the right to access and scan the messages, emails, and files you use with this feature.
  • Do not rely on Smart Detection to capture every charge or commitment. Always verify details directly with your providers, banks, or card issuers.
05

No financial advice

Subcharge is an organizational tool. It does not provide financial, legal, tax, banking, credit, or payment advice. Subscription and bill totals, renewal reminders, exchange-rate conversions, detection results, and insights are estimates for convenience and may be inaccurate or delayed.

You are responsible for verifying billing dates, charges, cancellation deadlines, currency conversions, and payment obligations directly with your subscription providers, banks, or card issuers.

06

Reminders and notifications

Subcharge can schedule local reminders for renewals, trials, and detected items. Reminders may fail, arrive late, or not appear because of device settings, notification permissions, operating-system behavior, time-zone changes, battery settings, app deletion, or other reasons.

You should not rely on Subcharge as your only method for avoiding charges, cancellations, late fees, or missed deadlines.

07

Card vault

Subcharge lets you store payment card details for your own reference. Card numbers and CVVs are end-to-end encrypted as described in our Privacy Policy. Subcharge is not a bank, payment processor, card issuer, or PCI-certified payment vault.

You are responsible for deciding whether to store sensitive card details in the app, safeguarding your recovery phrase and device, and complying with any rules from your bank or card issuer.

08

Subcharge Pro subscription

Subcharge Pro is an auto-renewable subscription offered on a monthly or yearly basis, sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and may include a free trial.

  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.
  • Your subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • If you don't cancel during a free trial, you'll be charged for the subscription once the trial ends.
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription, and view billing details, in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings. We do not process cancellations or refunds directly — those are handled by Apple or Google under their respective policies.
  • We validate your purchase with Apple and Google to confirm your Pro entitlement and its expiry.
09

Data storage, sync, and backups

Subcharge stores your subscription, bill, and account data on our servers so it can sync across your devices. Encrypted card numbers and CVVs can only be restored using your recovery phrase, as described above.

You are responsible for maintaining any additional records or backups you need. Deleting your account, as described in our Privacy Policy, permanently removes your data from our systems.

10

Third-party services

Subcharge uses third-party services, including Cloudflare for hosting and data storage, Mixpanel for analytics, and Apple and Google for sign-in and in-app purchases, along with services for exchange rates and brand logos. These services are not controlled by Subcharge and may change, fail, or become unavailable.

Your use of third-party services may be subject to their own terms and policies.

11

Intellectual property

Subcharge, including its design, branding, software, and content, is owned by the app developer or its licensors. You may use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes as permitted by these Terms and applicable app store rules.

Subscription names, logos, and trademarks shown in the app may belong to their respective owners. Their appearance does not imply endorsement or partnership.

12

App stores

If you download Subcharge from the Apple App Store or Google Play, your use is also governed by that store's terms, policies, and billing rules.

13

Disclaimer of warranties

Subcharge is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of accuracy, reliability, availability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

14

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Subcharge and its developer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, missed reminders, subscription charges, renewal fees, cancellation failures, card issues, a lost recovery phrase, or financial losses arising from your use of the app.

15

Termination

You may stop using Subcharge, or delete your account, at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, and may update, suspend, or discontinue any part of the app at any time.

16

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as Subcharge changes. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and make the updated Terms available.
